Dr. Jens Deerberg-Wittram

Jens Deerberg-Wittram, MD is a Director in The Boston Consulting Group's Munich office. He is BCG's Global Sector Leader on Value-based Health Care in MedTech. He has served from 2004 to 2012 as CEO of Schön Klinik, a German for-profit 15 hospitals, 4.500 beds provider organization. He has set and implemented value-based corporate strategy and established a worldwide leading medical outcomes measurement and reporting system.  Since 2009 he closely works on health care strategy and management topics with Prof. Michael Porter and Prof. Bob Kaplan from Harvard Business School. From 2013 to 2015, he was a Faculty Member and Senior Fellow of Harvard Business School. Since 2016, he is a Senior Institute Associate at the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at HBS.

Dr. Deerberg-Wittram is the Founding President of the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM), a non-for-profit institute founded by Professor Michael Porter, Harvard Business School, the Karolinska Institute and the Boston Consulting Group.

He holds a doctorate in Molecular Oncology at Kiel University, Germany

Why do we need more patient-centric health systems and where are the challenges in current structures? How can digital technologies foster more patient focus in health care? With our experts in integrated care, e-health and evidence, we want to look at three cases of supporting a patient focus in health: 1) investigating patient-empowerment in structurally underdeveloped areas, 2) patientempowerment for more adherence and compliance, and 3) thirdly the role of patient-empowerment in evidence-based medicine through patient-reported outcomes measures.
