I left clinical medicine after three years because the 1 to 1 engagement with patients, as gratifying as it is, was limiting my impact. I seek scalable approaches to improving health. As our healthcare systems are strained while our expectations of what "good outcomes" mean change, we need to rethink the way we provide health services. Fortunately, the internet, artificial intelligence, and behavioural science are giving rise to fantastic opportunities to solve the problems of providing high-value health services.
- A patient-centric approach in healthcare truly puts the patient first while coping with a disease, being on a therapy or even whilst trying to prevent illness. Having this in mind, the most important goal of digital technology in the healthcare system should be to eventually support the patient on his journey. In this session we will present how digital information platforms can empower patients to meet other stakeholders, such as physicians, “at eye-level” and how patients and their generated data through e.g. wearables, patches etc. can play a vital role in addressing today’s unmet medical needs.
