Since 1.1.2017 managing director of the ELGA GmbH. The graduate engineer is engaged in the health care system for nearly 20 years. Since 2005, he has been working as a project manager for various EU projects in the field of medical research networks at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Austria’s largest research and technology organization. From 2011 onwards, he was responsible as project and program manager at the ELGA GmbH for setting up the technical ELGA infrastructure. Board member of IHE-Austria.

ELGA – little chunks for big data

With the introduction of ELGA – the national electronic health record in Austria – a technological foundation has been established to foster the overarching cross-organizational collaboration in healthcare. Together with a confirmed roadmap to extend ELGA towards a generic national e-Health backbone infrastructure, major technical prerequisites will be met to leverage existing health data for upcoming demands like personalized data-driven treatment. Along with standardization and interoperability, at least the technical hurdles for big data might have dropped.
